This study aimed at reflecting on the concept of hospitality based on the understanding that representatives of the Kaiowá ethnic group have about what hospitality means in the context of their culture. In this study one sought to understand how they think and express different forms of welcoming face to identification of terms referring to the concept of hospitality and its interfaces. Regarding the methodology, it was characterized as descriptive and exploratory. Data were collected through research inspired by ethnography, by means of interviews. The analysis of the results was based on theoretical discussions on the subject and on the explanations of the indigenous participants in the research. Based on what was analyzed, it can be said that the interpretations given about the notion of hospitality by the Kaiowá help to understand the theoretical reflections on the subject and add elements of the Kaiowá culture, as a phenomenon that occurs in a unique space-time, referring to the plurality of the phenomenon.
