Hospitality in São Paulo through the rhythm of Adoniran Barbosa

This research makes an analysis of São Paulo’s inhabitants’ hospitality, during the decades from the 30’s up to 80’s, using the study of the lyrics of Adoniran Barbosa’s songs, considered as a representative auto-biographical story of an specific segment of São Paulo’s urban population in that period. In order to study how the hospitality was perceived, it attempts to highlight such hospitality in the author’s work, connecting the texts and the author’s biographical information. The results were grouped in categories representing the urban hospitality, among them the access to education, housing, feeding, labor changes, the demolitions deriving from progress, the people resignation in the misfortune, the interracial marriage, the incorporation of American habits in the culture, the bohemian life and the social invisibility.
