Abstract

O Parque Nacional da Lagoa do Peixe (PNLP) está localizado em sua maior parte nos municípios de Mostardas e Tavares, ambos no Rio Grande do Sul. O parque abriga uma rica avifauna tendo relevância nessa modalidade de turismo. O estudo aqui apresentado objetivou avaliar o papel do PNLP no processo de desenvolvimento local pelo Turismo e na melhoria da qualidade de vida da população. Foram realizadas 200 entrevistas, separando o grupo em nascidos antes e após 1970. Foi utilizado o teste estatístico Kruskal-Wallis (p<0,05) para comparação das amostras. Os entrevistados não identificam o parque como gerador de receitas, as quais relacionam a atividades agrícolas e não ao potencial local para o Turismo. Há uma tendência dos entrevistados nascidos após 1970 em melhor reconhecer os benefícios do PNLP. O ecossistema preservado de grande singularidade é o principal atrativo da região e os habitantes reconhecem esse potencial, mas não vislumbram a integração entre Turismo, comunidade e preservação dos recursos naturais no desenvolvimento local.
