Abstract

O objetivo do presente estudo foi investigar o processo de envelhecimento e a contribuição do turismo na melhoria da qualidade de vida do idoso. Utilizou-se o método exploratório descritivo com abordagem qualitativa. Participaram da pesquisa 247 sujeitos, de ambos os sexos, com idade igual ou superior a 60 anos. O instrumento utilizado foi um roteiro de perguntas fechadas e abertas. A análise de dados foi realizada através da análise de conteúdo de Bardin (2011). Os resultados apontaram que o turismo está associado às sensações de bem-estar proporcionando sociabilidade e sentimentos positivos, nem sempre presentes na vida do idoso. A melhoria da qualidade de vida foi apontada pelos idosos entre os principais benefícios visíveis a partir da participação em atividades turísticas.
